Eucalyptus Torquata – Coral Gum. This is one of Australia’s best gum trees for the home garden. It’s a small gum tree often only growing to 8 or 10 metres high and having lots of red or pink flowers. The flowers and buds are many and beautiful having a pendulous habit and are often photographed or used in floral arrangements. It’s a good tree for large pots or tubs as it often flowers while quite small making it a good feature plant for decks and patios. Torquata prefers good drainage and full sun and will tolerate dry conditions. It’s also a good street tree because of its smaller size and has a nice spreading habit providing shade. It’s also frost resistant.
