West Australia species is usually has a short trunk with a very dense crown growing up to 20m high. The bark is smooth, light gray to gray and the trunk can be rough barked at the base.
The buds appear in large, finger-like clusters, greenish to brownish yellow.An ornamental large bushy tree suitable for most soils, including slightly alkaline and saline and also tolerates some waterlogging.
In its natural habitat it rarely grows further than 10 klms from the ocean. It is an excellent windbreak and useful wind erosion control tree.
Plants respond well to pruning and the flowers, fruit and seed pots are used for cut flower arrangements.
Trees do very well planted from seed.
Plant seeds in spring or summer keep shaded and water sparingly until 50-60mm high.
