Eucalyptus cladocalyx nana: is a member of the Myrtaceae family and is known as the Dwarf Sugar Gum.
Eucalyptus cladocalyx nana is a dwarf form of the large Eucalyptus cladocalyx.
The dwarf form will reach a height of eight metres and will become an attractive small tree with a sculptured shape. Branching starts about one third of tree height.
Bark is smooth, mottled and grey to bluish grey. During late summer and autumn the bark is shed in large patches. The new bark is yellowish to pale brown.
The leaves are lanceolate, shining, dark green above and paler below. The veins are prominent.
Buds are in thick clusters of 7-16. Flowers are white.1.5 centimetres across, profuse and appear from late summer to autumn. The flowers are followed by barrel-shaped gum nuts that are prominently ribbed.
Eucalyptus cladocalyx nana is an attractive small tree that is small enough to be accommodated in most suburban gardens. Growth habit, foliage and flowers are all attractive features.
The Dwarf Sugar Gum occurs on the Eyre Peninsula and Kangaroo Island, South Australia.
