Micro Red Basil has the same flavor as sweet basil but with a beautiful maroon leaf. The majority of the leaves are deep maroon with green, making a beautiful contrast. More interesting than sweet, green Genovese basil. Use Red Basil microgreens for cooking, salads, and garnish.
Basil microgreens are the baby shoots of new basil plants. Tiny basil seeds are sprouted in potting soil until they grow a few inches high and produce a few tiny little leaves. Basil microgreens are wonderful to enjoy in salads, sandwiches, or as a beautiful garnish on a meal.
The microgreen version of basil has a more intense flavor than the mature leaves without that chemical-like aftertaste that older basil can have.
